HARRISBURG (AP) – After a long, cold, and snowy winter, Pennsylvania anglers headed to their favorite fishing holes over the weekend for the statewide opening of trout season. The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission stocked lakes and streams with 3.2 million adult brook, brown, and rainbow trout. The state also boasts more than 10,000 miles of wild trout waters. Opening day in 18 southeastern counties was March 29. State officials sounded one note of caution, saying wildfire danger ranges from high to very high across much of the state. The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources says anglers and others need to be careful with their campfires.
