Thank you WDAC for being the instrument of encouragement to the many of us who had a desire to read God's word from cover to cover. Without a little push from a larger group, I would not have been able to complete this desire as timely as I did. It was a highlight for 2007! I am so thankful to you and to God for giving me the time and ability to do this. It was a rich experience that will bring a lifetime of meaning and hope. May God richly bless the efforts of this project to all who were involved.

I took the Bible reading challenge and finished Saturday - two days early!! There for a while I didn't know if I was on track or not because I took five different breaks from the O.T. and read Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and Acts. Some days I read more in order to finish a 'thought' or a book. Things fit together better when reading large chunks at a time - you get more of the Big Picture. This is the first and only time I've read through the Bible since I was saved 47 years ago - I tried several times, even using a program that took books from different parts of the Bible instead of right straight through to avoid getting bored, and I never got very far. I'll admit I did skim some sections and didn't read all those names. This time I had more interest because last spring I finally discovered grace and who I am and what I have in Christ. That made all the difference - this time I wanted to read it all and I thank God for helping me. Now I want to go back and read more thoroughly and do some study.

I am from Millersville and when I heard the challenge back in January I thought, what a cool idea. Immediately, I called my best friend, my mother, Arlene Hackman (age 82) from Willow Street and asked her if she would want to take the challenge with me. Of course, I knew she would. Immediately, we bought 2 Bibles online. I thought it was so neat to know (even though I did not know individual names) that others in the listening audience were taking up the challenge with us. My mother and I had such an awesome time going through the Old Testament together. Each day we would discuss 'AHHH! Moments' we found. It was so much fun and we learned new things too! Specifically, there were 2 times during the 90 days that I became so overwhelmed with emotion, I just sat and cried. It became so evident to me, why God had to send His ONLY son to die. The overwhelming thoughts of the details of His plan and His patience, grace, mercy stood out in such away as it never did before. I remember they mentioned before we started that you will never look at the Bible in the same way again. They were right!!! The TEARS just started to flow as I finished reading the story of Joseph and his brothers and their reconciliation. I have known this story for years and all the details about it, but for some reason, Gods LOVE came out so strong. Then it hit me again during my reading in Hebrews. I have read the Bible and studied the whole Bible, but never tried to read it through in one year. Many years, I have attempted to read through the New Testament in a year, however, most of the time I never accomplished the task. I agree with one of your other bloggers. . . reading larger portions seemed to make more sense and be easier than a chapter a day. I ended up getting a week behind, but was determined to finish on time, which I am thankful to say I did. (Now my husband says I can tend to household chores again.) It was a daunting task, but I would recommend it for everyone. It is worth putting EARTH on hold for a little TASTE OF HEAVEN and a greater insight to the God we serve. Thank you so much WDAC for putting out this challenge. I am a GOAL setter and have decided to add this as a permanent goal to my goal list each year. Perhaps I will challenge myself to read it 2x in one year who knows? Either way, it was one of the most rewarding experiences and goals I have ever set for myself. Praise be to God for He deserves ALL THE GLORY!!!

I am blessed to read or listen to the Bible. On the 29th I just kept listening in the afternoon. Now the thing is to see how much I can live it out in the next 90 days with God's help.
