Fatal Lancaster County Crash Investigations

WEST EARL/WEST HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIPS – Police are investigating two separate fatal crashes that occurred early Sunday morning in Lancaster County. A 22-year-old Coatesville man died after a crash on Peace Road near N. Maple Avenue in West Earl Township just before 2 a.m. According to police, the victim was westbound when he traveled off the road for unknown reasons and struck a tree. The victim was taken to Lancaster General where he later died. The investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing; however, police say speed is being considered as a factor. Another crash happened around 2:15 a.m. along Route 30 West at Malleable Road in West Hempfield Township. Police report a sedan driven by a 31-year-old Dover, York County man struck two motorcycles causing both cyclists to lose control and crash. One motorcyclist, a 29-year-old Spring Grove man, died at the scene. A second motorcyclist, a 26-year-old Man from Seven Valleys was taken to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries. The sedan rolled onto its roof and the driver was hospitalized. An SUV driven by a 52-year-old York man struck one of the cycles and sedan when he was unable to stop for the crash in front of him.
