LANCASTER (AP) – A Lancaster County man accused of having caused his girlfriend’s death by pushing her down a flight of stairs last summer has been ordered to stand trial on a homicide charge. 33-year-old Shane Sigman waived a preliminary hearing Wednesday in the Aug. 2 death of 42-year-old Virginia Cole in the couple’s New Providence home on Truce Road. A judge then sent the homicide and assault case to Lancaster County Court. Police said the two were arguing downstairs before he went to the second floor and yelled at Cole’s 12-year-old daughter, and Cole went upstairs and the two argued briefly before the fatal fall. Investigators also allege that Sigman kicked Cole’s daughter before she ran to a neighbor’s home for help.
