HARRISBURG – Legislation that would exempt the operators of certain farm vehicles from holding a commercial driver’s license was unanimously approved by the PA House. House Bill 2092 would amend the Vehicle Code to exempt a driver with a Class C license from holding a CDL when operating a covered farm vehicle, which is used exclusively to transport agricultural products, livestock, farm machinery or farm supplies to or from a farm. The farm vehicle may be operated anywhere within the Commonwealth. A licensed driver operating a farm vehicle from another state would also be exempt from the CDL requirement when the vehicle is operated within 172.6 miles of the out-of-state farm. The measure will now be considered by the state Senate.
