PA House Allows B&Bs To Give Guests Wine

HARRISBURG (AP) – Pennsylvania bed-and-breakfast operators could give complimentary bottles of wine to their paying guests under a bill that passed the state House. The bill would amend the Pennsylvania liquor code to allow unlicensed B&Bs to provide one bottle of wine produced by a licensed, limited winery to guests when they check in without it being construed as the sale of alcohol. Bucks County Rep. Scott Petri, who is sponsoring House Bill 244, says it’s designed to help Pennsylvania B&Bs compete with their counterparts in other states that advertise wine and champagne giveaways. The bill would require Senate approval before it is sent to the governor.
