HARRISBURG – With freezing rain in the forecast, PennDOT is advising motorists to be cautious in your morning commute. PennDOT has crews patrolling interstates and other state roads. The challenge during the commuting hours is traffic and slower-than-normal traffic and accidents can interfere with the progress of PennDOT’s salt trucks on their assigned routes. The most difficult traveling for motorists this winter has occurred when storms have arrived during either the morning or afternoon commuting hours. PennDOT recommends not traveling during winter storms. However, if people must travel, they can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com or by calling 5-1-1.
