LANCASTER – People gathered to pray at school flagpoles, the state Capitol, restaurants, churches, and elsewhere as part of the National Day of Prayer. The 2014 theme was “One Voice United in Prayer” based on Romans 15:6. Events were held in Lancaster, York, Dauphin, Cumberland, and surrounding counties. Joni Eareckson Tada was the featured speaker at the Lancaster County event held at the Junction Center challenging people to remain optimistic and to pray during our difficult times. Tada made reference to her life when she faced the challenges of becoming a paraplegic from a diving accident in 1967. Joni also joined with others in the afternoon to speak and offer a time of prayer with many individuals with disabilities. You can hear Joni every Monday through Friday at 5:15 p.m. on WDAC for her radio program, Joni and Friends.
