Recuperating Corbett’s Medicaid Plan Takes Next Step With Feds

HARRISBURG (AP) – Gov. Tom Corbett says the U.S. Department of Human Services is beginning consideration of his proposal to use federal Medicaid expansion dollars to potentially cover another 500,000 working poor in Pennsylvania. Corbett’s office said the federal agency is opening a 30-day public comment period on the plan. The governor is seeking modifications to the Medicaid expansion envisioned by ObamaCare. Instead of expanding Medicaid, Corbett wants to use the Medicaid expansion dollars to purchase private insurance policies, largely for low-income adults who aren’t eligible now. Meanwhile, Corbett is recuperating from successful hernia surgery conducted yesterday morning at a Pittsburgh hospital.
