LANCASTER – Red Rose Transit Authority will join with other public transportation systems nationwide to participate in the ninth annual National Dump the Pump Day this Thursday, June 19. The day encourages people to park their car and use public transportation instead. RRTA Executive Director David Kilmer says public transit helps people save money, helps our economy, and reduces traffic congestion. RRTA performs about 7,000 rides each day on 17 bus routes in Lancaster County. RRTA is encouraging riders to tell their stories on how they have “Dumped the Pump” and experienced the benefits of public transit. Entries will be placed into a random drawing for RRTA prizes. The Grand Prize winner will receive a free year of transit on any RRTA bus route. Stories can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or mail it to “Dump the Pump”, 45 Erick Road, Lancaster, PA 17601. The deadline for receiving entries is June 27th.
