BELLEFONTE (AP) – Jerry Sandusky has been sentenced to 30 to 60 years in prison. The sentence means the 68-year-old former Penn State coach will be in prison at least until he’s nearly 100 years old. Judge John Cleland issued the sentence this morning, three months after a jury convicted Sandusky on 45 counts. Sandusky plans to appeal, a process his lawyer has said will probably begin in the coming weeks. Sandusky gave a rambling statement today in which he denied the allegations and talked about his life in prison and the pain of being away from his family. Three victims spoke, often fighting back tears. Sandusky recorded a statement broadcast by a student-run radio station at Penn State. In it, he said he is not a monster and that he didn’t do the “alleged disgusting acts.” He says he’s the victim of Penn State, investigators, civil attorneys, the media, and others. The statement was recorded at the county jail in Bellefonte.
