Time To Have A Fasnacht

LANCASTER – Today is Shrove Tuesday, also known as Fasnacht Day, the day before Ash Wednesday. Traditionally, fasnachts are made to use up the lard, sugar, butter, eggs and other rich foods before the beginning of Lent. Making and eating fasnachts was a way to consume all the fats kept in the house pantry, as these rich ingredients are not supposed to be eaten during the Lenten season. Churches and bakeries will be making the confection today for people to enjoy.
