EPHRATA – Authorities released the name of a man who escaped from custody of a sheriff and was later found dead in a Lancaster County creek. On Saturday around 7:45 p.m., Ephrata Police responded to a parking lot at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital to assist a Lancaster County Sheriff’s Deputy with a prisoner resisting arrest. Upon their arrival, the prisoner had escaped the custody of the deputy and ran into the Cocalico Creek while handcuffed with a chain restraint belt. Police attempted to rescue the escapee and called the fire department water rescue team for assistance. Officials say the water was about 12 feet deep. The escapee, identified as 24-year-old Andrew Good, was found deceased in the creek at 9:22 p.m. The incident is being investigated by the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office Detectives, Ephrata Police, and the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office.
