Mold Causes Delayed Open At Smoketown Elementary

/ WDAC

LEOLA – Mold will cause the delay of the start of school at Smoketown Elementary in Lancaster County’s Conestoga Valley School District. The district says the mold was developed through a combination of record-setting humidity this summer, coupled with an antiquated two-pipe heating and cooling system. Remediation of the affected areas will take place. Smoketown Elementary is now slated to open on Thursday, August 23. All other CV schools will open on Tuesday, August 21. The district will be conducting a presentation for Smoketown families this evening at 6 p.m. in the Middle School Auditorium. The session is designed to provide an update of actions taken and planned for the building.
