Mold Impacts Second Conestoga Valley School

/ WDAC

LEOLA – Another school in Lancaster County’s Conestoga Valley School District has been hit by mold. Brownstown Elementary will now open on Thursday as will Smoketown Elementary School. All other CV schools will open today. Officials discovered that mold was present in three classrooms. The mold developed through a combination of record-setting humidity this summer, coupled with an antiquated two-pipe heating and cooling system. Unlike the situation at Smoketown that was a wide-spread systemic problem involving a majority of the piping, Brownstown was limited to three classrooms. Brownstown Elementary families can attend a presentation about the situation this evening at 6 p.m. in the Middle School Auditorium.
