Watch Out For Flooding

STATE COLLEGE – Be alert for flooded roads on your commute today. Wet weather has caused a flood watch in effect for our region until 8 p.m. A flood warning has been issued the Yellow Breeches Creek near Camp Hill. At 11 a.m. Monday, the stage was 7.5 feet and falling. Flood stage is 7 feet. Minor flooding is forecast. The river is expected to crest near 7.5 feet by this evening. The river will fall below flood stage late morning tomorrow. Also, there’s a flood warning for Conodoguinet Creek near Hogestown. At 11 a.m. Monday, the stage was 7.8 feet. Flood stage is 8.0 feet. Minor flooding is forecast. It is forecast to rise above flood stage by late this afternoon and crest near 8.5 feet by tomorrow morning and fall below flood stage by Wednesday morning. Never drive cars through flooded areas. The water may be too deep to allow safe passage. Most deaths that occur during flooding are related to vehicles trying to cross flooded roadways. Remember to “Turn Around – Don’t Drown.”
