Lancaster City Council Considers Decriminalization Of Marijuana

/ WDAC

LANCASTER – At their council meeting tonight at 7:30, Lancaster City Council will hold a first reading of an ordinance that would create a summary offense for the possession of an ounce or less of marijuana and possession of marijuana paraphernalia. City officials say decriminalization of a small amount of marijuana is not legalization, but rather possession of an ounce or less would result in something similar as a parking ticket and not be on an individual’s record. York and Harrisburg have adopted similar ordinances. Those opposed to the proposal say it could eventually lead to legalization. A vote on the ordinance could come on September 25th.
