PA Senate Panel’s School Safety Discussion Held In Lititz

/ WDAC

LITITZ РThe Senate Majority Policy Committee looked at Lancaster County’s efforts to promote a safer learning environment during a public roundtable discussion with local school safety experts in Lititz. In addition to highlighting steps taken locally to improve school safety, the discussion centered on bills approved by the General Assembly and pending proposals to boost student safety. Lancaster County Sen. Ryan Aument, who is Vice Chairman of the Senate Education Committee, said Lancaster County schools have been ahead of the curve on a wide range of education issues in recent years, and the issue of school safety should not be an exception. He added the meeting offered many local leaders an opportunity to discuss strategies that are already working, while at the same time identifying concerns that need to be addressed. Lancaster County Sen. Scott Martin said progress has been made in making our schools safer. He hopes the discussion will serve as a catalyst for additional school safety reforms in the months to come.
