Help For Overseas PA Voters To Get Around Ballot Barrier

/ WDAC

HARRISBURG – Officials who oversee voting in Pennsylvania are promoting ways for state residents living overseas to obtain absentee ballots after some encountered computer barriers set up to prevent meddling with elections. The Department of State outlined new procedures Wednesday. Those who can’t obtain a ballot can call a toll-free number – 1-866-472-7873 – or email the agency’s help desk, where staff has been bolstered to address the problem. A Department of State spokeswoman says it’s unclear how many people ran into the cyber barrier, but it did not affect all overseas ballot applicants. Four years ago, the state sent out more than 7,200 ballots to Pennsylvanians stationed with the military or otherwise living in foreign countries. About 4,000 voters who had already requested electronic delivery of their ballots were notified of the new procedure.
