Lancaster County Police Officer Attacked At Crash Scene

/ WDAC

MANHEIM TOWNSHIP – Lancaster County authorities arrested 18-year-old Joshua Luciano of Lancaster after he attacked a Manheim Township Police officer during a crash investigation in the 1400 block of Harrisburg Pike on Dec. 31. At 2:22 p.m., the officer was on the scene of a two car crash when Luciano, who was one of the drivers, became uncooperative and began punching the officer and attempted to choke him. The other driver and a passing motorist assisted the officer, who was able to call for help on his radio. As the struggle continued, Luciano’s 17-year-old girlfriend punched the officer in the head and attempted to break Luciano free. Numerous officers from three jurisdictions responded and took Luciano and his girlfriend into custody. During transport and while in police custody, Luciano continued to fight with officers. The officer who was attacked was treated and released with minor injuries. Luciano faces aggravated assault, strangulation, resisting arrest, and other charges. He’s in Lancaster County Prison. The girlfriend was also charged and committed to the Lancaster County Youth Intervention Center.
