Lancaster County DJ Pleads Guilty To 1992 Hempfield School Teacher Murder

/ WDAC

LANCASTER – A Lancaster County disc jockey accused of murdering a Hempfield School District teacher in 1992 pleaded guilty to the crime. 50-year-old Raymond Rowe, known as DJ Freez, made the plea before a judge Tuesday morning. Lancaster County District Attorney Craig Stedman outlined details of the crime in court before President Judge Dennis Reinaker asked Rowe if he disputed anything that was said. Rowe said he did not. Rowe’s defense lawyer, Patricia Spotts, said at the hearing,“He has told us that he did it.” The body of 25-year-old Christy Mirack was discovered at her home in East Lampeter Township on December 21. She had been beaten, strangled, and sexually assaulted. Rowe was arrested and charged last June when DNA samples matched DNA at the crime scene. Rowe apologized to Mirack’s family in court. He will receive life in prison without bail as part of the plea.
